Rebecca Tappin at Middleton Lodge
Portrait by Cecelina Tornberg
Rebecca has helped me realise my dreams. She has a way of taking my crazy ideas, putting flesh on them and turning them into reality - and it’s that attention to detail that drives the beauty you see here at Middleton Lodge.

About

Rebecca Tappin : founder

Creative Director, Consultant, Architectural & Interior Designer with a passion for crafting spaces that go beyond aesthetics - spaces that resonate, inspire, endure - and add value.

With a background in both History and Architecture (The Bartlett, UCL), I design spaces that shape how we live, gather, and experience the world. My focus is on creating spaces that feel deeply rooted in their setting, elevated by thoughtful design, and rich with story.

For over a decade, I have led the Creative Direction for Middleton Lodge Estate - designing two restaurants (one now Michelin starred), the award winning Forest Spa, 55 bespoke bedrooms, and the Fig House (a nationally recognised wedding venue). from architecture and interiors to guest experience, brand and narrative - every element was intentional designed to feel effortless and unforgettable.

Before that, I worked at Michaelis Boyd, known for Soho Farmhouse and Babington House, where I gained insight into hospitality and high end residential design in London and the Cotswolds.

I now lead Atelier Be - a boutique consultancy offering:

  • Architectural & concept design

  • Hospitality strategy & guest experience

  • Creative consulting for estates, retreats, and heritage properties

My approach is collaborative, intuitive, and grounded in creative vision, brand direction, and sensory detail. Whether designing a building, a room, or a guest journey, I start by asking:

What is the lasting impression we want to create? What impact does this have?

Thoughtful, soulful, purposeful design. Let’s begin with the end in mind.
